I have came to the end of my journey in completing my certificate in online teaching and learning. Customer service has always been a huge portion of my job and I wanted to teach others what I have learned over the years. This certificate has allowed me to create a course I am passionate about and given me the drive to want to fully complete each lesson. My course is "Service with a Smile; A Student Worker's Guide to Good Customer Service."
Some of the areas I have learned to create were learning goals and objectives, how to create learning activities that engage the learners, create student to student interactions, and student to instructor interactions. I have also learned how to create quizzes, surveys, discussion board questions, and journal assignments. My course uses best practices in course design, interaction and collaboration, assessment, and learner support. This has been a journey that I am not ready to let end, therefore I will be developing the remainder of the courses in an effort to propose the course to a college and/or university to facilitate. I will complete this process as an independent study for my graduate program, Communication and Training. I will only have 8 weeks to complete nine additional lessons which will include discussion questions, journal assignments, learning material from online sources, and the development of a mid-term and final exam. This will not be an easy task, but I am sure with the help of the wonderful professors at Governors State University I will succeed.
I am excited to know I accomplished the goal of completing the Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning, and even more excited about following a new path of completing the course in its entirety.
